Baby's progress in the first month of life includes:
- Reflexes: Grasps hands, rooting relfex (cheek moves toward food source or touch), line of vision (eyes follow object), sucking reflex, Moro reflex (finger and toe extension), Babinski reflex (toes will spread when touched on bottom of the foot), and the hand to mouth reflex.

- Movement: Coordinates arms in legs in simulated "crawling", moves head back and forth, and moves eyes to follow an object.
During the second month, baby can:
- Head movement: Holds head erect when sitting up and being supported or held, bobs head when being held or supported, when prone can lift its own head halfway
- Eyes: Follows moving people around him, and will follow objects with head turn
- Responses: Smiles at mother, or when stimulated
Three month developments:
