Three to Six Months of Life

From the twelfth to the twenty-fourth week, baby learns:
  • Responses: Recognizes the sound of her own name, imitates sounds, smiles at herself in the mirror, opens her mouth to be spoonfed, reacts emotionally (either by laughing or screaming), imitating parents (facial and vocal expressions)
  • Movement: Rolls over, plays with own fingers and toes, able to hold and shake toys, lifts head and shoulders while lying in prone position, coordintates hand movement (moving items from one hand to another), can bend legs while standing, pulls up to sitting if holding on to you, sits in high chair
  • Growth: Perhaps begins to cut first tooth, perhaps starts crawling or trying to, begins eating solid food
